Time and time again, we hear about the many reasons that some educators decide to leave the teaching profession, but why not discuss why educators choose to stay in the profession. Marilyn Cochran-Smith, who is a professional within the field of education, presented a lecture that discusses this topic. The reasoning behind teachers staying in the profession is boiled down into the L's: Lovers, Learners, and Leaders, as mentioned by Dr. Smith. One of the commonalities between an excellent teacher who works in the urban setting is that they chose to love each of their students and value that human connection.
